Daniel Smith passed on a referral to this book to me today… and it appears that the topic of this book is very similar to the book that I referenced earlier. “Dead Aid: Why Aid is Not Working and How There is a Better Way for Africa” is written by Dambisa Moyo, a Zambian academic and economist.
Mark my words – this is a topic that will gain momentum very quickly. I strongly believe that people like Moyo are the way forward for international aid, and that our generation can and will change the way aid is distributed. From the book’s website:
In the past fifty years, more than $1 trillion in development-related aid has been transferred from rich countries to Africa. Has this assistance improved the lives of Africans? No. In fact, across the continent, the recipients of this aid are not better off as a result of it, but worse—much worse.
